Oliver Rousteing + Balmain

Oliver Rousteing: To be or not to be?
Posted by: the GUN

For the past six years, lead designer Christophe Decarnin catapulted Balmain into an edgy, tailored rock n' roll powerhouse. I fell in love with Balmain three years ago while rummaging through fashion show catalogs and have been on a love high ever since. Although I would probably have to sell an organ on the black market before I could afford a pair of Balmain leather pants (over $3,000), the brand never seemed pretentious. Now that Decarnin has decided to step down, everyone in the fashion industry is buzzing about whether the newly appointed 25 year-old Oliver Rousteing will keep the momentum alive. This French born young man worked under the lead designer of Roberta Cavalli for five years and then under Decarnin from 2009 to now. With his vision for his Spring 2012 collection, Rousteing is morphing the brand to become more chic and classic and less "holey tshirts". Basically he wants the feel of Balmain to be less dark and more happy. I think he has a bright future ahead as the first black lead designer and the Balmainia will continue with him in the front seat. To hear his thoughts behind his inspiration for the collection check out his interview with style.com

Here are some pieces I ♡'d from Spring 2012 collection:
