Color Inspiration of the Week

This Week's Color: Red

As we approach Christmas Day, we thought the most fitting color to showcase in all its beauty this week is the almighty RED. From cherry red to burgundy, reds come in a variety of hues. However, this week we are just going to spotlight holiday red--you know, the appropriate for a family dinner and even that late night cup of tea (if you know what I mean), fire engine-poinsettia-colored, sexy yet classy, slap-yo-mamma and her cheeks turn red RED. Yeah, that one.






Monday: Seeing Red

Hopefully, you aren't seeing red this week because of long lines, fewer parking spaces, and traffic. If so, woo sah for a moment and remember what this holiday season is all about. And, if being merry involves the purchase of a few fantastic things, why not shop online! That way, you can see red this way instead. :)

Bows, Bows, & More Bows!

GoldenGun Style:Bow Crazy! 

Moschino does it. Valentino swears by it. Marc Jacobs indulges at times, too. But, these aren't the only designers flaunting bows in their collections. Bows add a sweet touch to any piece--be it a bag, shoe, or shirt. For a woman, it's the perfect accent that can seduce and soften any look. For a man, it adds a bit of class and suaveness. The great thing about bows is that it can be a DIY project. Something was missing from our Christmas tree so we bought some silver ribbon and created bow ornaments. We even adorned the back of a pair of black knee high vintage boots from Shareen Vintage Downtown with black ribbon bows (our version of the Valentino ones below). Take note, be inspired, and Do It Yourself!

"The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" H&M Collection
Trish Summerville, costume designer for the highly anticipated movie, "The Girl With Dragon Tattoo", has designed a wonderfully crafted collection for H&M. The clothes transcend a goth, rocker chic vibe by using lots of leather, shredded t-shirts, and hoodies inspired by the character Lisbeth Salander from the movie. The items range from $17.95 to $199 and will make its debut tomorrow, December 14. We can't wait!

This Week's Icon: James Dean
James Dean (February 8, 1931- December 30, 1955) is not only a style icon but cultural icon. His most loved role was in Rebel Without a Cause in 1955 where he played a troubled Los Angeles teenager. A plain white T-shirt and denim jeans with slick hair, his trademarked style, has transformed into today's most go-to street look on both men and women. Although Dean died before his time shortly after the release of Rebel Without a Cause, his influence on American menswear lives on.
